Breakthrough opera

Written by Schoenberg in the early 20th century, Erwartung (which means ‘Expectation’) is the story of an apprehensive woman searching a forest for her lover, only to find his body which she berates for having cheated on her.

Heavy stuff, but the kind of challenging performance for which the Shadwell Opera have become renowned.

Having worked with them on their Eight Songs performance earlier in the year, we spent some time with the team to produce a trailer to reflect the storyline of Erwartung.
